Deadline fast approaching if you want SSFD hotel accommodations while staffing this detail.

Thank you to Patsy, Rodney, and Stacy for making early commitments to staff 9/7 and 9/9.  Still looking for at least one member to have minimum staffing for 9/8.  And having one more pair of hands for 9/9 would be a plus.

Thanks very much!

Subject: SSFD Training Support Detail - 9/7, 9/8, 9/9

Team,

FC has been requested to support SSFD live fire training at GPSTC (Georgia Public Safety Training Center) in Forsyth, GA on 9/7, 9/8, and 9/9.  Support will consist of Firefighter Rehab, SCBA Air Cylinder Services, and possibly other onsite assistance (e.g. refilling/recharging pressurized water fire extinguishers).  Because of the travel distance (approximately 75 miles from Sandy Springs) and potential expenses involved, more upfront planning/commitment is required than usual.  So please note the specifics and timing requirements below

  • 2 FC personnel required each day.  More can participate, but note that FC coverage in Sandy Springs is still needed in case of working incidents.
  • 580 will remain in Sandy Springs.  FC personnel can make the trip to Forsyth, GA in POV’s or, if you prefer, a SSFD vehicle can be made available on request as a daily car pool option.
  • For FC personnel who do not want to make the roundtrip in a day, SSFD will arrange/pay for hotel accommodations for up to 2 rooms/day upon request.  IMPORTANT – hotel requests must be communicated to me prior to 6/25 in order for Reggie to get reservations approved and implemented within the current fiscal year.
  • Rehab and A&L Trailer to be set up by 08:00 each day.  Daily breakdown timing TBD.
  • Rehab supplies and equipment will be provided onsite (FC not responsible for transport).
  • Air & Light Trailer will be onsite (FC not responsible for transport).
  • GPSTC location: 1000 Indian Springs Dr, Forsyth, GA 31029
  • Uniform (to be adjusted as appropriate for forecasted weather): Gray SSFC Tee Shirts and/or Job Shirts, suggested dark blue pants/shorts, black belt, and black work shoes. Caps optional/recommended.

SSFC calendar postings/invites will pop shortly, and Signup is already posted.  If you can commit in advance to any day(s) of this detail, please do so promptly for Reggie’s planning purposes.  For any days FC can’t staff the detail, SSFD will have to staff with FF’s.

Thanks, and have a great weekend!

The only two items worth noting:

    1) Clay borrowed the mobile jumper unit. He was going to plug it back in to recharge it when he was finished and then put it back in 580.

    2) two air cylinders needed to be topped off, but it turned out that one was leaking so Richard took it out of service. That leaves us with 17.

Also worth noting...we checked the jump bag to make sure it had all the supplies listed and pulse ox battery ok, etc.

Quiet morning. Richard asked if we would like to go over some EMR procedures during our next shift and I definitely would like to do that.

Ivan & Janis...we hope you’re hangin in and are doing ok through all this covid mess.

SSFD Training Support Detail

When:
Monday, 7 September 2020
8:00am to 5:00pm
(UTC-04:00) America/New York

Where:
GPSTC in Forsyth, GA

Organizer: Richard O'Gorman r_og@... 7705000307
